At NX Direct, we have the pleasure every semester of hosting some truly special interns in our company’s Leadership Development Program. From business to communication majors, some of the state’s finest scholars join our company’s ranks for 3-4 months at a time, immersing themselves in the studies of our direct marketing & sales industry. This summer, we had the immense satisfaction of working with Emilia Bujan, an upcoming senior at Georgia Southern University. As Emilia goes to return to school for her final year, majoring in Accounting & Marketing, we sat down with her to learn more about her internship experience!
Emilia, what makes NX Direct a unique place to work for interns?
It’s a place where everyone genuinely wants to help you get better every single day, both personally and professionally. Also, its a place where you can have fun and enjoy working.
What is the biggest learning lesson you took from your internship?
During my internship, I learned that hard work and discipline pays off. I was able to see first hand that the more I studied and applied what I was learning, I acquired NX Direct’s client more new customers, in turn earning myself greater commissions and responsibilities training new team members starting in the company.
What piece of advice would you give to someone new starting with the company?
My advice would be if you don’t have experience in sales, you are in the right place to learn everything about them! Just follow the systems and procedures set up in the company, and listen to the experienced leaders in the company who have more experience and application. NX direct is not a place of competition, it is a place of cooperation.
What area do you think you have grown most in in 3 months interning?
I learned how to communicate with different people and I improve my interpersonal/social skills. In my role, I would communicate with dozens of customers on a daily basis, so I had to quickly learn how to adjust to different personality types and communication styles.
What’s something fun about you most wouldn’t know?
I was born and raised in Argentina and I am a student-athlete! I play on the women’s tennis team at Georgia Southern University and think that competing at such a high level helped me immensely in my internship at NX Direct. I came in ready to work hard and wanting to win!
What was you favorite memory with the company?
It wasn’t really one singular memory, but instead a feeling! The good energy that everyone had in the office was contagious. The days when I had customer meetings were so entertaining because the team was entertaining. That energy is something I’ll be taking back to school and radiating to those on my tennis team!
Where do you see yourself after graduation?
I see myself coming back to NX Direct!
